Haseflook botoi në anglisht librin “Rrethimi i Shkodrës” të Martin Barletit, përkthyer me titullin “The Siege of Shkodra”.
Dear Congressman DioGuardi,
I hope you and Shirley are well!
I want to inform you that in April, I will publish the first copies of Marin Barleti’s History of Scanderbeg, in English. I have spent the past ten years, little by little, updating the Elizabethan English translation done by Zachary Jones (a contemporary of Shakespeare) in 1596.
The new version will retain the Shakespearian English style, but finally, it will be legible to the modern reader. Until now, English readers have not had access to the SEMINAL work on Scanderbeg.
In size the book will be nearly 3 times thicker than The Siege of Shkodra. It is a significant book.
I will be launching the book at the Albanian Academy of Sciences in late April. For this, I am printing 250 copies in Albania, in a hardback version with a wraparound cover. It will be a beautiful edition. Attached is our cover design.
This book will be available from Amazon later this year, in a paperback format, but I am writing you as a courtesy, in case you want to order some copies of the hardback version, and have us ship them to you, like you did for The Siege of Shkodra.
I do not yet know the price, but it will be a good price, being printed in Albania. The shipping will be the expensive part.
I am not trying to be a salesman here, but I thought it would be appropriate to inform you.
Best regards,
David Hosaflook
Dear Dave,
I deeply appreciate ALL the work you have done (and continue to do) to preserve the Albanian culture and language since you first moved your family to Albania, personally achieved a Doctorate in the Albanian language and contacted me after translating and publishing “The Siege of Shkodra” on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of Albania (as proclaimed by Ismail Qemali in Vlora on November 28, 1912).
Please feel free to call me to discuss how I can help you distribute your newest book “SCANDERBEG: KING of ALBANIA” which you have translated into modern English from the original Albanian version by Marin Barleti. I am already planning to order your special “first edition copies” for the Board of the Albanian American Civic League and major contributors of the Albanian American Foundation, as we did almost 14 years ago with the initial distribution of your excellent English translation of the “The Siege of Shkodra”.
It is the least I can do as I continue the work I started in the US CONGRESS when I was elected as the first Albanian American to serve and represent the people of Westchester County, New York on January 5. 1985, and as a DESPERATELY NEEDED VOICE for all Albanians in Washington, when there was no one in the Capital of the United States of America to speak for them and their families being severely persecuted (and even killed) in YUGOSLAVIA and in the Balkan States in Europe, and being terribly suppressed and economically marginalized in Communist ALBANIA and elsewhere around the World.
ALL THE BEST / “ZOTI BEKOFT”,
Joe
